Charles Fort, Kinsale & Giles Norman

On Sunday last, November 6th, members set off under clear blue skies for Charles Fort, Kinsale and a visit to the studio of renowned photographer, Giles Norman. The day was organised in place of our regular Wednesday evening meeting and what a stunning day it was.

On arriving at Charles Fort members quickly dispersed to the various corners, nooks and crannies, battlements and parapets and began shooting away. Not at the enemy on this occasion! The only requirement for the day was that we meet up again at the studios of Giles Norman in the centre of  Kinsale. Some had a picnic lunch, others headed into a nearby pub or the town.

On arriving at GIles’ shop we spent a while browsing through his prints before he took us upstairs to his studio where he demonstrated his digital workflow and answered the many questions we had for him. It was an informative and enjoyable session. Giles was very open as to his approach to a photoshoot and the subsequent processing and printing of the image once back in his studio. Many thanks to Giles for his hospitality.
