Mary Cahalane exhibition

On Friday evening last, November 20th, Clonakilty Camera Club was delighted to be able to open an exhibition in memory of Mary Cahalane, a former member of the club who sadly passed away last year. The exhibition of Mary’s photographs of people and places  both in Clonakilty and overseas is currently on at the Community Arts Centre in Astna Square, Clonakilty.

We were delighted to welcome Mary’s husband Dennis, Cionnaith Ó Súilleabháin, the mayor of Clonakilty, John Headlam the director of the Arts Centre  and friends and former colleagues of Mary’s from Barryroe NS as well as members of the camera club. The mayor officially opened the exhibition welcoming everyone to the centre and spoke about the photos on display  as well as the community spirit engendered by such an event.

Joy Larkcom from the camera cub spoke of her fond memories of Mary and about her role in the club whilst she was a member and Evelyn Fleming from Barryroe NS read a poignant poem that the staff had written in memory of Mary. It was a delightful evening, well attended and enjoyed by all.

The exhibition remains open until December 1st so drop by and enjoy Mary’s photographs.
