Fermoy Camera Club visit

On what was a grey, wet day, Fermoy Camera Club came down to west Cork to spend the day with us taking photos, chatting, snacking and finally BBQing.

We met up at the Celtic Ross Hotel on Sunday morning, July 9th, Fermoy having travelled down by bus. Following a nourishing breakfast we headed out in the drizzle across the causeway down to Warren Strand. Naturally enough not long after we hit the beach the drizzle turned into rain and the breeze picked up…. A few hardy souls, cameras wrapped in waterproof covers stayed on doggedly trying to capture the soft day.

Plans to visit a couple of more exposed beaches were abandoned and we head over to Dunmore Head across from Inchydoney. We made it as far as the rocks below Dunmore House Hotel and again managed a few shots before the mist turned to rain. The hotel provided warm, dry refuge. And a beer or two!

From Dunmore it was off to Clonakilty and the sanctuary of the church but again plans were thwarted – a Christening meant we could not enter, at least for now. So De Barra’s pub became the venue of choice before our final gathering for the BBQ at O’Donovan’s Hotel.

There was food aplenty – thanks to members of Clonakilty for supplying the salads and fruit and to all for the sausages, burgers and other meaty delicacies. Thanks also to Deana and the staff at the hotel for providing the space and setting it up for us.

Thanks too to the guys and gals from Fermoy for taking the time to come down on such a grey day. We hope you enjoyed yourselves as we did and look forward to catching up again in the not too distant future.
