This year’s Photographer of the Year (POTY) competition was an open theme with members submitting any three images taken over the past year. With 20 entries the competition was wide open and congratulations go to Nicholas for his win. His 3 winning photos are shown below.
Geoff placed second in the competition and Siobhán came in third. Their photos are in the gallery below.
The most recent competition, Home, saw a total of 24 participants in the Zoom meeting with 19 entries in the competition. Again Simon’s critiquing was was very detailed and the members will have have learned a lot from this.
The judge’s fancy was tickled but not by Nicholas. For the first time in 4 years, a new winner – Rita!! Below is Rita’s fabulous sinning image of a Robin captured in her back yard proving you don’t have to go far from home to capture wonderful nature photographs. Well done Rita.
Just the one 5-minute presentation this week and many thanks to Mel for sharing her love of colour. A self-proclaimed serial photographer, Mel’s been undertaking a course of study which has led her up many new paths one of which has led her to discover that taking photographs based on a narrative or a documentary or as a series of abstractions can often engage the viewer and ask more questions than a one-off photograph.
