Selfie

Last night saw the first competition since we started back after the summer break – Selfie. There was a reasonable interest in the competition with the largest number of entries coming from Grade 1.

Entries were judged internally by club members and the results across the grades were quite close with the winner in Grade 3 being Helen, joint winners in Grade 2, Noreen and Tom, and Kathleen took out the Grade 1 prize. Well done to all.

There was some controversy in that a couple of the entries appeared not have the individual themselves in the photo however, a selfie can surely be figurative as well as literal? It’s always good to see members thinking creatively and divergently and challenging our own concepts of what a photo should look like!

Take a look at the entries below and see what you think.

The next competition is our annual Nature competition for the Johnny Creedon Nature Photographer of the Year award. Entries are to be submitted at the meeting on November 18th. We will also be having an environmental portrait competition the due date for which will be announced shortly but will be after the Nature competition. Both competitions will be judged externally.
