We were delighted to start this evening’s meeting with the handing over of a cheque for just over €1120 to Maeve Hurley from the Rainbow Club in Mahon, Cork. The Rainbow Club were the recipients of the monies raised at our Annual Fundraising Exhibition held at the Celtic Ross Hotel.
Following on from the success of the lighting workshops with Tadg, members were asked to submit a portrait, mono or colour, for this competition.
Although the number of entries turned out to be disappointingly small the standard showed that all had learnt from Tadg’s sessions.
Congratulations to Geoff for yet another successful entry and many thanks to Joe and Tom for standing in and judging at short notice.
First up, congratulations to the winners of our landscape competition; Patricia Costello, Grade1; Joe Dolan, Grade 3 and many thanks to Charlie Lee for judging the competition and giving such excellent feedback and encouragement.
Members were asked to submit a colour and a mono image however only one award was made at each grade level. There were a good number of entries so many thanks to all.
Last Wednesday’s meeting saw members enter photos into an intra-club Open Competition. Both colour & mono images were entered. There were a good number of entries and the competition was fierce.
Thanks to Nicholas and Anne for tallying the results and for Mel for leading the discussion on the images entered.
There were winning colour and mono images in each grade and then an overall winner in each grade.
The results are in! The winners and runners-up in the 2015 Clonakilty Camera Club Photographer of the Year competition are as follows;
Winner, Grade 3 – Dawn Creagh
Winner, Grade 2 – Patricia Costello
Winner, Grade 1 & POTY – Paddy Feen
Congratulations to all and many thanks to Paul Reidy and Rory O’Connor from Blarney Photographic Club for judging our entries.
Other entries can be seen in the gallery below.
Our last meeting for the year saw Geoff end the year in glorious style as the winner of our environmental portrait competition – congratulations, Geoff.
In second place was Kathleen with Elmarie coming in a well-deserved 3rd place. Many thanks to Tadg Spillane for coming in to judge the photos and for the detailed critique and feedback he gave on each of the entries.
Prior to Tadg announcing the results we were treated to a showing of the photos taken during the trip to Granada and parts Andalucian earlier in the year by several club members.
Judging by the photos they had a fantastic time both taking in the sights and the culinary delights. Some taking on more of the latter than former!
We return in the New Year with our annual POTY (Photographer of the Year) competition which takes place on January 13th which will be lucky for some!
Enjoy the festivities!
